Everett Douglas Everett grew up in the small town of Chesterfield, SC with an older brother and three younger sisters. After high school, he attended Clemson University and New Orleans Baptist Theological Seminary. He met his wife, Beth, while working in Bennettsville, SC, where they were married. They have two wonderful daughters, Meagan and Lauren.
In his 30 years of ministry, Everett has served a number of churches, and with the International Mission Board of the SBC. He has long had a heart for discipleship or spiritual formation. Everett not only wants to see individuals come to know Christ, but over time, to also see Christ more and more formed in them (Galatians 4:19). He genuinely believes that it is possible and, in fact, expected for Christ to be progressively formed in every Christ-follower. Though Everett desires to see Christ in himself as much as in anyone else, he would be the first to tell you that he is very much a “work in progress”. He recognizes that he is on a journey and readily admits he has a long way to go.
Everett has the distinction of actually serving Ocean View at two different times in his ministry, once from 1987 – 1991 and currently beginning in 2004. He now serves as Minister of Personal Growth. Besides ministry and family, Everett loves sports, but at this point, generally limits himself to the position of “spectator”.
